(KMOV.com) — A new prescription painkiller has ER doctors concerned about the risk of spikes in overdoses and deaths.
Zohydro is 10 times stronger than Vicodin and could be potentially deadly. The potent extended release prescription painkiller is made of pure hydrocodone.
Doctors fear it’ll fall into the wrong hands when it’s released later this month.

“This is now putting a new drug on the market where one pill will kill a child,” said Dr. Jim Keany of St. Joseph’s hospital in California.
“I am really concerned about the safety of the pediatric population.”
Unlike other painkillers, Zohydro does not contain acetaminophen so it does not cause liver damage.
Doctors call it a perfect prescription for drug abusers
It also has no protective ingredients that prevent it from being crushed, snorted and injected.
