(KMOV.com) -- Many who stayed home from work and school Monday were trying to stay warm and spent the day digging out so they can get back to their normal routine Tuesday.

But staying warm hasn’t been easy for some in De Soto. Power went out around 6:30 morning for nearly 1,100 hundred people.

Ameren said about one third of the residents got electricity restored around 4 p.m., and the rest are hoping it comes back on before the sun goes down and temperatures drop which could put them at risk of their pipes freezing.
