(KMOV) – News 4’s Sharon Reed returns to the shooting scene where one man was killed, another injured and three children watched their mother get pistol whipped Wednesday night.
“I have two kids, I’m scared to death,” Kelly Webb said. She lives across the street from the scene where Rico Combs is accused of opening fire inside an apartment on 7th Street.
“I just saw him yesterday, I couldn’t believe it,” Webb said.
Combs killed one and left another man in critical condition.
St. Louis Circuit Attorney, Tonja Englehardt told Reed, Combs beat a woman, who then hid in a closet with her three children.
“Mr. Combs opened the door to the closet, armed with a pistol and tried to shoot the victim in the head. She has a round burn, abrasion to the center of her forehead,” Englehardt said.
Combs is the father of those three children - ages 3, 5, and 7.
The female victim had taken out a restraining order against Combs on Tuesday.
Englehardt said, “we have very serious concerns about Mr. Combs, we believe he is a risk to the community. He is a danger to the community."
Larry Montgomery, a Vietnam veteran said he is not only concerned about Combs but for children as well.
“They say the man beat her with a gun right in front of the kids,” Montgomery said. "I know there were lives lost and the poor kids are going to suffer, and the mom and my heart goes out to them."
Experts from the Child Advocacy Center on the UMSL Campus said the children could suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder and this could possibly lead to a life of violence unless action is taken quickly.
