(KMOV) -- Maryland Heights Mayor Mike Moeller announced Coca-Cola is closing the local M & H bottling plant in March.
Moeller says he is “disappointed that the facility is closing,” and attributes the closing as “a sign of the business climate in the country now.”
Workers at the plant are being offered jobs in other plants around the country, and those who don’t want to relocate will be given training for other jobs and severance packages.
The production from the Maryland Heights plant will be parsed out amoung existing Coke plants and the company is planning to put the plant on the market after it is vacated.
The M & H bottling plant has been open for more than 40 years and was one of the first commerical developments for the company.
