(KMOV.com) -- Heavy snow in St. Louis delayed or cancelled nearly 130 flights at Lambert Airport on Sunday, stranding some passengers for up to two days.
Thomas and Nicki Hill of Kirksville were hoping to fly out of Lambert on Sunday, but the snowstorm cancelled their flight. Later, the couple learned they would not be flying out of St. Louis until Tuesday.
"We're delayed until Tuesday at 10:15 a.m." said Nicki Hill. "We're just gonna be stuck here until we figure out something.
The couple said they looked for a hotel room, but said rates were about double normal prices because of the storm.
As of 4 p.m. Sunday, 61 departing flights had been cancelled at Lambert, while 67 arriving flights had been cancelled.
On a typical day, Lambert handles approximately 500 commercial airline flights (both arriving and departing operations).
