ALHAMBRA, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- A 20-month-old girl remains in serious condition after being struck by a car in rural Madison County on Sunday afternoon.
Authorities say a family member accidentally backed over the toddler in Alhambra, Illinois. She was airlifted to a St. Louis hospital where she is listed in serious, but stable condition.
Madison County officials say the child had wandered out of the house without her parents knowing, and was standing behind the vehicle at the time of the accident.
The girl's injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.
Police are not releasing the name of the child.
