(KMOV.com) – Budget cuts throughout the Normandy School District caused Bel Nor Elementary School to close its doors for good after classes on Friday.

The Normandy superintendent said he chose to close the school because the building does not have central heating and air.

The closing of the school is the latest fallout from the district losing its accreditation earlier in the year.

According to the St. Louis Post Dispatch, Bel Nor students will be divided between Washington Elementary and the remainder will go to Lucas Crossing.

The Bel Nor building will be used for storage by the Normandy school district.
