BROOKLYN, Il (KMOV.com) -- Minutes after new Brooklyn Police Chief Tony Tomlinson was sworn in Thursday, police received a call for a robbery in progress.

Brooklyn police, assisted by several other officers in town for the swearing-in ceremony, responded to nearby Smitty’s Market.

A clerk at the store reported seeing a group of six men trying to rob a customer in the parking lot.

Upon arrival, police caught one man and are looking for five others.

Smitty’s owner, Tim Smith, says keeping teens and young men off his corner and out of his parking lot is a daily hassle.

A clerk says several of their customers have been robbed. Some, the clerk says, even refuse to come to the market at night.
