(KMOV.com) — Apparently you are not out after three strikes when you are funded by the state of Missouri.
A new state-wide audit shows massive problems for the third time with the Missouri Department of Social Services.
It’s the same issues with childcare payments and welfare dollars that News 4 has investigated over the past three years.
In the state-wide audit released this week, in more than 10 percent of cases the DSS could not even find the documentation proving that people were eligible to receive taxpayer-funded child care
After the two previous News 4 investigations the department claimed they would improve the documentation process.
This week’s audit also highlighted problems the department had in dealing with Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, a program through which federal dollars that are distributed to low-income Missourians.
Again, people getting benefits couldn’t prove they were eligible.
The department of social services either agrees or partially agrees with the all auditors findings.
We will stay on top of the issue and see whether they make improvements before next year’s audit.
