(KMOV.com) The Ameren Missouri Thanksgiving Day Parade celebrated its 29th year in downtown St. Louis Thursday morning.
The parade stepped off at 8:45 a.m. at North 4th St. and Washington Ave. and traveled south to Market St. and 10th St.
Mary Englebreit, a world renowned artist, was the Honorary Grand Marshal of the parade. A winner of the poster coloring contest, Natalie Stoner, was named as the Junior Grand Marshal.
The parade included dozens of floats, helium balloons, area marching bands and more than 100 organizations. Santa riding in on his sleigh ended the parade.
Area bands that walked in the parade also competed in the annual Battle of the Bands contest.
The winners of the Band Competition were:
1st place - Belleville East
2nd place - Collinsville
3rd place - Windsor
4th place - Bond County
5th place - Ritneour
