(KMOV.com) -- Both the Collinsville and Belleville school boards voted to eliminate teachers Monday night.
In Collinsville, 16 full-time and three part-time teaching positions will be cut for next year. The district tells News 4 there are more cuts possible for next year if the State of Illinois does not start living up to their commitments to the district.
In Belleville, the school board for district 201 also moved to cut their budget for next year.
Among the cuts agreed to was the reduction of three full-time teachers and another part-time position according to the Belleville News Democrat.
The district says they have to make this move because the State of Illinois is not paying their financial obligations to the district.
