Charges filed against mother in deaths of her two children
Yokeia Smith, 25, is accused of shooting and killing two of her small children on Wednesday, August 31. She was charged with two counts of assault and two counts of armed criminal action on September 1. Yokeia Smith, 25, was arrested directly outside the KMOV newsroom in downtown St. Louis on Wednesday, around 6:30 p.m. after her 8-year-old son told police that his mother killed his 5-year-old sister and 4-year-old brother in their East St. Louis home.
