Lincoln County Shooting
(KMOV) – A Wentzville man is accused of shooting a friend of his daugher's ex-boyfriend during an argument in Lincoln County Wednesday.
William Corey Welsh, 41, was charged with five counts of felony assault in the first degree and felony armed criminal action according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
On Wednesday, Lincoln County deputies responded to the scene of a shooting on the 100 block of Morgan Valley Rd., in Foley.
Welsh told authorities that his daughter’s teenage ex-boyfriend and four other teenagers stopped by to pick up video games when an argument concerning stolen medicine occurred.
According to authorities, Welsh confronted the ex-boyfriend about medication that had gone missing. Welsh told deputies a friend of the ex-boyfriend, Christopher Kinney, 20, reportedly took off his shift and threatened to fight Welsh.
Following the confrontation, Welsh went back into the home and came back with a handgun.
Welsh told investigators Kinney threatened to harm his wife and he fired three warning shots into the ground.
Following a brief investigation, evidence revealed that a total of four shots were in fact fired of which three struck the 2004 Lincoln LS car the teenagers arrived in.
According to authorities, one bullet passed through the driver’s side, rear door, and struck a passenger in the wrist. Two other bullets struck the trunk and roof of the car.
The injured 22-year-old Wentzville teen was driven to the Lincoln County Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries and later released.
Welsh is currently housed at the Lincoln County Jail.
Bond was set at $75,000 cash-only bond.
