ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Four people are okay after a man robbed them Friday night in Midtown and 1 victim fired back.

Police say 3 women, ages 71, 59, and 83, and a 71-year-old man were walking westbound on the 4500 block of Olive around 10:50 p.m. when a man approached them and announced a robbery. The suspect got away with several of the victims things. Then the 71-year-old man pulled out his gun and started shooting at the suspect as he was fleeing.

The suspect returned fire and no one was injured. The 71-year-old man is a concealed carry weapon permit holder.

The suspect fled in an early 80's maroon Ford pickup with a black camper shell. Victims describe the suspect as a black male between the ages of 35 and 45, is about 5 foot 7 inches, with a light complexion, wearing a white t-shirt and black jeans. He was also carrying a semi-automatic handgun.

The investigation is ongoing.
