GODFREY, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- A 20-year-old man was found asleep and intoxicated in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart by police Sunday evening.
The Madison County Sheriff received a call around 9:30 p.m. about a man who appeared to be asleep in a car that was also blocking traffic. A deputy arrived at the Wal-Mart located at 6660 Godfrey Road and found the man unresponsive in his vehicle.
The deputy woke Tyler Mcnew of Brighton, Illinois and noticed he a strong smell of alcohol. The officer found an open beer inside the vehicle as well.
Then deputies conducted a driving under the influence of alcohol investigation and arrested Mcnew.
Mcnew was taken to the Madison County jail and held on a $400 cash bond. He was issued citations for driving under the influence, illegal transportation of alcohol and unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor.
