(KMOV) - Two men worked together to steal two orange lawnmowers from a fenced-in area of a hardware store on April 11.

The thefts were discovered six days later on April 17, when a loss prevention officer at Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse viewed surveillance footage. The officer told Alton police that he saw a man climb over a fence on the south side of the business and grab two push mowers.

The surveillance tapes showed the man handing the mowers to another man on the other side of the fence. Both suspects escaped on foot with the lawnmowers.

Police reports describes the mowers as a 22-inch, Husqvarna brand owned by Lowe's, worth $499 and a 19-inch Worx model, belonging to a woman who had taken it to the store for repairs.

Authorities say the two men were wearing long-sleeved shirts and long pants at the time of the robbery.

Police investigation is ongoing.
