(KMOV) – Two people have been charged in connection with the case of 3-year-old Ronesha Milner, who was found wandering the streets of East St. Louis alone.
Markee Garner, 46, of East St. Louis was charged with three counts of endangering the life and health of a child. Garner was babysitting the 3-year-old and allegedly consumed alcohol and smoked crack cocaine while the child was under her care.
Her male companion Everette Cole, 50, of East St. Louis is charged with three counts of endangering the life and health of a child and one count of obstructing identification. Cole allegedly consumed alcohol and smoked crack cocaine in the presence of the child. When detectives asked for his identification, he is alleged to have knowingly given a false name.
It was determined by police that Garner lost Milner at some point Monday, and the child was left in the care of another individual that night. Police said that individual saw media reports of the missing child on Tuesday and called authorities. The individual turned the child into police custody near a Foot Locker store in East St. Louis.
Tuesday, Milner’s mother lost custody of Milner and her younger sister.
Garner is incarcerated in the East St. Louis jail with a bond of $25,000. Cole is also incarcerated at the East St. Louis jail with a bond of $20,000.
