(KMOV.com) - A man who was training authorities on how to use new sonar equipment said he and the trainees found several cars at an East St. Louis lake Thursday.
Dennis Watters of Team Watters Search and Recovery Inc. said he was training some Illinois Department of Conservation officers on new sonar equipment Thursday when they stumbled on a vehicle deep under water at Frank Holten State Park
Watters continued to search and said he found two more vehicles.
Watters found a van, a 1993 Voyager which was reported stolen in 2005, and a 1972 Plymouth, which was allegedly stolen in 1983 from East St. Louis. The third car found was a 1985 Chevrolet Caprice.
Police said the cars have most likely been under water since they were stolen.
Waters said he believes there could be more cars in the lake.
