MADISON, COUNTY, Ill. – A Cottage Hills, Illinois man was charged Thursday following an incident outside his home Tuesday.

Jerrett Scott is charged with Reckless Discharge of a Firearm and Unauthorized Production and Possession of Cannabis Sativa Plants.

Police said they were called to a home in the 1300 block of 7th Street in Cottage Hills Tuesday on a report that a man was firing a handgun in the direction of a neighbor’s home.

When police arrived, the resident told them the man, identified as 30-year-old Jerret Scott, left his house twice that day to discharge a handgun.  She reportedly told police Scott discharged the gun several times into the ground earlier in the day.

The victim called police the second time, when Scott reportedly fired several shots in the direction of her home, where children were present.

Once on the scene, police found Scott, and after a brief foot pursuit, arrested him.  A warrant was served to search his home, and police reportedly found twelve marijuana plants, forty rounds of ammunition and drug paraphernalia in his home.

Scott's bail has been set at $35,000.
