KILLEEN, Tx. (AP) -- A 22-year-old Missouri soldier was killed on Sunday when a fellow soldier, trying to cure the victim of his hiccups, pointed a gun at him and pulled the trigger.
Killeen police say the soldier, based at Fort Hood in central Texas, were drinking alcohol and watching football when the incident happened.
An arrest affidavit says Spc. Patrick Edward Myers of Spartanburg, S.C., pointed a gun at Pfc. Isaac Lawrence Young's head to scare him and stop his hiccups. Myers told investigators he thought the gun had dummy rounds in it.
Bell County jail records show Myers was being held Tuesday on a manslaughter charge with bond set at $1 million. Online jail records did not list an attorney for Myers.
Pfc. Young is from Ash Grove, Missouri.
