Teen pleads guilty to bringing gun inside St. Louis Science Center facility

(KMOV) – Authorities said a 19-year-old St. Louis man faces sentencing after bringing a gun inside a Science Center facility in 2011.

Tony Estes pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of unlawful use of a weapon.

According to prosecutors, Estes was an employee of the the Science Center on July 26, 2011 when he got into a fight with some teens.

A Science Center supervisor was told the next day that Estes may bring a gun into the Taylor Community Science Resource Center.

A security guard warned of the possibility asked to search Estes when he arrived to work at the facility. The security was given permission and found a 9mm pistol wrapped in a t-shirt inside the backpack Estes was carrying.

Estes’ sentencing is set for Aug. 8 at a.m.
