BELLEVILLE, Ill. – A Belleville, lllinois teenager was arrested Thursday after police said he pointed a fake gun out of a car window in the direction of a group of football players.

Police said this incident happened around 10:00 Thursday morning at Belleville Township High School West.

Authorities said a deputy coroner was at the high school and saw Vantezz Carter, 18, point that gun out of the window of Chevrolet Yukon.  The school was briefly placed on lockdown, despite classes being out for the summer.

Minutes after the incident, police pulled over the suspect’s vehicle and were able to take Carter into custody.

Police searched the vehicle and found several airsoft handguns.  Police said the guns could have easily been mistaken for real firearms because there are no orange safety marking on them.

Vantezz Carter is charged with one count of disorderly conduct.

Carter posted bond and has been released from custody.  Carter was enrolled as a student at Belleville West.  There were no injuries sustained during this incident
