(KMOV.com) – Police in Belleville have arrested a Swansea man in connection to a home invasion early Thursday morning.
Dougford G. Butler III was charged with one count of home invasion by the State’s Attorney’s Office.
Early Thursday morning, Belleville police were dispatched to the 100 block of Lakeshore Drive in reference to a home invasion.
Officers arrived at the residence and met with the victim and witnesses. The victim had visible injuries to her face and head.
The victim identified the suspect as a man she knew from a past relationship. She then provided information related to where the suspect may have fled to after the attack.
The information led officers to the 100 block of Brackett in Swansea in an attempt to locate the suspect.

The Belleville Police and St. Clair County Sheriff Special Response Team were contacted and responded to the 100 block of Brackett.
A negotiator spoke with Butler, who eventually exited the residence and surrendered to police.
Butler was transported to the Belleville Police Department and is being held pending further information.
A second subject at the residence was taken into custody. The individual was interviewed and later released from custody.
Bond was set at $500,000.
