(KMOV.com) -- Police have charged two men with multiple charges of robbery and assault after allegedly leading authorities on a chase through the city of St. Louis that ended in a crash that overturned the vehicle.
According to police, Lamontay Ollie, 22, and Leonard Wilkins, 21, were spotted by police in a vehicle at the intersection of Grand and Dr. Martin Luther King Drive Friday. Police said the vehicle was wanted in connection to an assault that happened last Wednesday. But officers said when they attempted to pull the car over, the vehicle fled at a high speed.
Officers then chased the vehicle to the area of Grand and Bell where the police cruiser struck a pole. The chase continued until the vehicle crashed and overturned at I-55 and Arsenal.
Two male suspects, Ollie and Wilkins, were taken into custody by police. Charges were issued Saturday for attempted robbery, two separate charges for assault and two counts of armed criminal action and tampering with a victim or witness.
Authorities were searching for the vehicle involved after Ollie and Wilkins allegedly assaulted a 21-year-old male victim Wednesday at a gas station in the 2800 block of North Florissant. Police said the suspects showed the victim a gun and hit him with the gun several times in the head. The victim was treated for cuts to his head.
Ollie and Wilkins are being held on a $100,000 cash only bond.
