Suspect in custody after man shot in Alton

ALTON, Ill. (KMOV.com) – A suspect is in custody following a shooting in Alton, Illinois over the weekend.

Brandon McGee, 19, of Alton was taken into custody after a shooting in the 2400 block of Johnson Street injured Danruis E. Braxton, 19, of Alton on Saturday. According to police, McGee shot Braxton in the head and ankle. Braxton was transported via helicopter to an area hospital following the shooting.

On Wednesday, McGee was charged with First Degree Attempted Murder, Aggravated Battery with a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Weapons by a Felon. His bail was set at a million dollars.

McGee is also the suspect in two other shootings that occurred in Alton throughout the month of August. He was charged with Aggravated Battery with a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Weapons by a Felon for an incident on August 22.
