Boone County, Missouri (KMOV) – On Tuesday, a Camden County man was arrested on suspicion of attempted unlawful sex with an animal and attempted animal abuse.
Fifty-six-year-old Jared Lee Hill, of Roach, Missouri, was arrested as a result of an investigation by the Boone County Sheriff’s Department Cyber Crimes Task Force.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Department says their investigation began in late July after receiving a tip from a citizen reporting an unknown person had an ad on Craigslist wanting to perform a lewd act with an animal.
Police say a detective with the Task Force pretended to be an adult from the Columbia, Missouri area who allegedly exchanged numerous emails with Hill. According to police, Hill solicited the detective to provide a particular type of animal to perform a lewd act and wanted to travel to Columbia, Missouri. Arrangements were made with Hill to travel to Columbia in early August to engage in the act, according to police.
Authorities arrested Hill at 11:35 a.m. on Tuesday. Hill is charged with for one count of attempted unlawful sex with an animal and one count of attempted animal abuse.
