(KMOV) – A Troy, Mo. man is in custody after he allegedly assaulted a sleeping man who would not build him a racing Go-Kart earlier in the day.
Police said 37-year-old Michael Whitman entered the victim’s residence in the 2000 block of Highway 47 in Winfield Wednesday night. Police said Whitman approached where the victim was sleeping and struck him in the face with his fist.
The victim to police that Whitman was upset with him because he refused to build a racing Go-Kart earlier in the day to pay off an old debt. The victim said he refused to build the Go-Kart because he had a feeling it would be too dangerous.
The result of the impact resulted in two of the victim’s teeth being knocked out, according to police.
After the assault, Whitman fled and returned around midnight on Thursday still upset. Police said Whitman started beating on the door until it opened. He entered the home and threatened to assault the victim again, he also threatened to assault a female inside the residence. Before leaving the residence Whitman allegedly told the victim and female he would return to kill them.
Whitman, who is on parole, was later arrested by county deputies.
Police charged Whitman with first degree felony assault and first degree felony burglary. He is in the Lincoln County Jail under a $250,000 bond.
