(KMOV.com) – Police believe a man who stole a trailer from a Franklin County business may be responsible for other trailer thefts.

Surveillance footage shows the thief driving up to a trailer lot in New Haven, get out and pick the trailer he wants. The footage also shows the thief struggling before driving away. The thefts occurred Sunday around 3:30 a.m.

“Whoever did this knew those trailers were there, either had been there before or somebody told him they were there," said New Haven Police Chief John Shieble.

The footage also shows the thief used a semi-truck to steal the trailers.

"It had absolutely no markings on it, it had no dot or ICC on it, no business numbers, names on it and the trailer had no license plate on it," Shieble said.

Police are unsure if the theft in New Haven has any connection to similar trailer thefts in O’Fallon or Arnold.
