(KMOV.com) – St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson told News 4 he is considering increasing the number of officers who patrol downtown St. Louis after a weekend of violent crime.

Dotson told News 4 he is considering implementing hot spot policing for downtown and the surrounding area.

“What we are going to is put additional resources down here, so again additional uninformed and plain clothed officers,” Dotson said.

The push comes after three robberies were allegedly carried out by the same men. Police allege they pulled up to pedestrians demanding cash, a cell phone, and keys. Police said it also follows a rolling gun battle that occurred Monday morning on Washington Avenue and a shooting that occurred Friday at the Broadway Oyster Bar.

Statistics indicated there have been more robberies and aggravated assaults then there were in June 2013.
