ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – A St. Louis woman was arrested after one on her dogs died of apparent abuse in 2011.

Cennitra Fowler, 21, was charged with two counts of animal abuse.

According to authorities, police were notified of a severe case of animal abuse on October 13, 2011.

Police responded to the home in the 5400 block of Thrush Avenue and found two of Fowler’ dogs - a white and brown terrier and white terrier mix - completely malnourished and emaciated.

The white terrier later died of the neglect.

Police investigated and later arrested Fowler, who had since moved.

A veterinarian who provided care for the two dogs said the deterioration of the animals was from a long period of neglect.
