ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A St. Louis woman has been charged with eight felony counts after admitting she set her car on fire while she and her infant son were still inside.

On June 30, Vanessa Allen, 24, told police that an unknown male kidnapped her and her son, and set her 2000 Ford Taurus ablaze.

Tuesday, police report, Allen admitted to setting the fire herself.

Allen said she had gotten into an argument with the boy’s father after he said he did not want any more children. She reportedly decided to kill herself and her son. However, after the flames reached her, Allen changed her mind, grabbed her son and got out of the car.
