ST.  LOUIS (KMOV.com) – The final day for people looking to clear their records of all misdemeanor warrants in St. Louis is Saturday.

The final “Amnesty Day” will be held from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at the St. Louis Community College Forest Park Campus. Participants will have to pay a $10 processing fee to begin the process of clearing warrants.

The “Amnesty Day” is part of the 2014 St. Louis Metropolitan Area Amnesty Project.

Organizers say the Amnesty Project gives those who show up a chance to resolve situations that may be preventing them from getting, or keeping, a job, being approved for housing or finding child care.

It is estimated that after Saturday more than 17,000 people will be given a clean slate.

Saturday’s “Amnesty Day” follows two which were held within the last week at the St. Louis Community College at Meramec and the Florissant Valley Campus.

The project started in 2002 and is estimated to generate nearly $3 million in economic impact.

Currently, plans are underway to expand the model to Kansas City, Memphis, Detroit and Atlanta.
