(KMOV) -- A St. Louis business was taken into police custody for helping criminals with thefts.
The owner of “Vince Jacks” and a cashier were charged after police said they were caught not following copper laws. The owner of the shop was involved in crafting the law a few years ago
Officers noticed an increase in metal thefts and decided to put the metal dealers to the test. Out of four business, two failed to follow the law.
“If a business chooses to entertain or do business with people who are likely dealing stolen merchandise, it will impact the whole community,” said St. Louis police Captain Dan Howard. “People will come home and have stolen pipes and that's a huge issue.”
