St. Charles police search for suspect accused of stabbing taxi driver

St. Charles, Mo. (KMOV) -- The St. Charles Police Department is seeking the public's help in identifying a suspect who police say stabbed a taxi driver after being picked up at the airport Friday night.

According to police, as the 32-year-old driver was telling the suspect the fare amount, the suspect began stabbing the driver with a knife in the neck and arms. The victim crashed the taxi into a parked car in the 500 block of Jefferson Street at 8:22 p.m.

The suspect fled with the victim's phone. He was last seen running north on Benton Street.

The victim was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and has since been released.

The suspect is described by police as a taller, black male in his 20’s who was last seen wearing a yellow shirt and dark colored shorts.
