South County man faces drug trafficking charges

SOUTH ST.LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A man who ran from police and was later found to have a bottle of suspicious materials was charged Monday for drug trafficking.

Michael Klaus, 31, from south St. Louis County has been charged with second-degree drug trafficking.

On May 31st, authorities report Klaus was seen walking along Telegraph Road in south St. Louis County when he was approached by an officer. Klaus ran from the officer, but was caught a short time later. Officers said Klaus was in possession of a 12 ounce bottle with what appeared to be meth making materials inside.

The substance was tested and determined to be methamphetamine.

Klaus is being held on a $50,000 bond.
