(KMOV.com) – An accused shoplifter allegedly took extreme measures to avoid being caught, including scaling a tall fence and breaking into a home.
St. Louis County Police said Jessica Ratcliff, 35, stole cosmetics from a K-Mart store on Lemay Ferry Road. She then allegedly ran from loss prevention, scaled a tall fence and past homes on Anita Drive.
A neighborhood resident told police Ratcliff came through the side yard and then broke into a neighbor’s home.
Police said Ratcliff’s fingerprints were discovered on the exterior of the home and inside the bedroom closet.
Ratcliff is now charged with a misdemeanor for stealing and a felony for burglary.
According to police, Ratcliff was supporting a drug habit.
