(KMOV) – Police were searching for a suspect after shots were fired near a business in north St. Louis early Wednesday morning.

Authorities say two American Commercial Lines workers were at the business in the 5500 block of Hall St. around 2 a.m. when they heard gunshots.

Thinking they were being targeted, someone called police, who responded to the scene believing there may be an active shooter situation.

More than 10 police vehicles were spotted when News 4 crews arrived on scene. A police chopper circled the area for at least 30 minutes. A News 4 photographer says he also hurt between six and eight shots.

Police could not find a shooter and determined no one was hurt. It was not clear if the workers were targets.

Authorities say the area has had some incidents in the past, as sometimes people go out there to fire off their weapons.

Additional details were not immediately available.
