BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- A 19-year-old man was charged Friday with making a bomb threat that canceled classes at a Southwestern Illinois College campus.
James Sherrell, of Caseyville, Ill., is the alleged author of a note written on the wall of a SWIC bathroom, detailing a possible bomb threat. The writing caused the school’s subsequent evacuation and cancellation of classes Thursday.
St. Clair County police said they found no evidence of a bomb after a thorough dog search of the college campus.
Following an investigation and interview with the suspect, Sherrell was charged with disorderly conduct and held on a $40,000 bond.
Sherrell is currently being held at the St. Clair County jail.
