(KMOV) – The St. Louis Metro Police Department’s armored car vehicle will once again be used as a crime-fighting took in the Delmar Loop.

As the weather warms up, more people will be heading out and police say crime increases.
The armored vehicle, known as ‘The Raptor’ is intended to serve as a crime deterrent.

People who walk, drive past realized there is an extra set of eyes watching them. The vehicle features infrared cameras which can be used, if needed, in a criminal investigation.

The Raptor moves from location to location in the city mostly in high-profile areas or for big events

Residents say it made a difference on the Loop, particularly when it came to addressing the problem of unescorted teens.

St. Louis Police say they're coordinating with University City Police about patrols on the Loop.
