(KMOV.com) – The wife of a University City councilman said she and her son were assaulted after a contentious city council meeting.

Linda Kraft said she and her son Andrew, 27, were assaulted as the family was leaving city hall Monday night.

The alleged assault came after a city council meeting where emotions ran high. Residents packed city hall to voice their opposition to a proposed rules change that would have eliminated the opportunity for the public to comment during such meetings.

Kraft said people verbally abused her outside the council chambers when she identified herself as a councilman Steve Kraft’s wife.

According to Kraft, a man approached her and her son as they were leaving city hall, and assaulted them near an elevator.

Kraft told News 4 she has filed a report with police.
