(KMOV) – A man and a woman were found guilty of stealing more than $11,000 worth of dumpster hooks throughout the city of St. Louis.

St. Louis Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce said Ladale Lewis and Victoria Gibbs stole about 270 metal dumpster hooks from 30 different locations.

The stolen hooks were worth about $11,475.

“Only a fraction of the hooks were recovered, leaving taxpayers to foot the bill to replace the remaining $9,945,” Joyce posted on her website.

Police said an investigation led them to Lewis and Gibbs, who both pleaded guilty to felony stealing.

Lewis, a repeat offender was sentenced to six years in prison. Gibbs is scheduled for a May 23 sentencing hearing.
