(KMOV.com) – A Belleville man was sentenced to 18 months in a federal prison Friday, and will have to pay more than $20,000 of restitution to the Social Security Administration.

39-year-old Douglas Buckman pled guilty to the charges of theft fom Social Security in the time ranging from January of 2009 to June of 2011.

During that time, Buckman knowingly continued to receive Social Security benefits totalling $20,220, even though he was in prison and therefore ineligible to receive them.

Buckman will also have to serve three years of supervised release once his prison sentence ends.
