(KMOV.com) - Police said they are searching for suspect who robbed a car wash and shot an employee in midtown St. Louis.

According to authorities, the suspect walked into a car wash in the 200 block of south Vandeventer around 5:00 p.m and said he was looking for a job. He then waited around for another employee to talk to him when police said he stood up, produced a gun, and announced a robbery.

Authorities said an employee and the robber struggled before the suspect shot the victim in the stomach.

Police said the suspect then got into a white Chevy Impala with the three other men and drove away.

Police said the victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
