(KMOV.com) – Police are investigating after racist graffiti was spray painted on the home of an African American family in O’Fallon, Ill.

A man who lives in the home told News 4 someone spray painted the n-word and then wrote “die family, die.” The man said he did not see the graffiti when he left for work Monday, but his wife noticed it and called police.

The victim told News 4’s Russell Kinsaul someone wrote the n-word on the back window of his SUV while it was parked outside of his workplace. He also said he found a note with n-word as well. The victim said he believes the incidents at home and outside work are connected. Many of the family’s neighbors agree.

“It’s just crazy how it starts with the employer where he works at then you follow him home and now this,” neighbor Darlene Fuller said.

The victim said he is worried whomever is behind the graffiti has escalated it from a note at work to a threat at his home. As a result, he has decided to quit his job and move his family.
