WESTMINSTER, CO (KMOV.com) – The search for a 10-year-old girl who went missing on Friday has expanded into Missouri.

Police say 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway went missing after leaving for school on Friday morning. Ridgeway left her home around 8:30 a.m., but never made it to school.

"The urgency started when we got the notification," said Detective Trevor Materasso of the Westminster Police. "We're using as many resources as we can pull in."

The school called Ridgeway’s mother to inform her that her daughter did not make it to school. However, Ridgeway’s mother works an overnight shift and often sleeps until the afternoon. She did not receive the message from the school until 4:00 p.m. After receiving the news, the mother immediately called police.

Investigators searched the home shared by Ridgeway's father and grandmother. They live in Independence, Mo.

"The police asked if they could search my house and I said yes because we'd do anything in the world to get her back, " said Donna Moss, Ridgeway's grandmother. "We want her back as soon as we can get her."

Hundreds of searchers spent Saturday searching for Ridgeway in and around Westminster.
