ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man in south St. Louis Tuesday night.

The victim was transported to an area hospital and was pronounced dead at 2:53 p.m., Wednesday. The victim was identified as 19-year-old Tarron Selfe. 

Police say the suspect is a black male with dreadlocks and was wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes at the time of incident.

The incident occurred around 10:00 p.m. in the 2800 block of Miami. Police say Selfe was shot in the head and and had multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and lower extremities.

According to police, Selfe and his girlfriend observed the suspect and another subject across the street. The suspect produced a firearm and the victim began to run away, but the suspect fired toward him, striking him in the head. The suspect shot the victim several more times before fleeing the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
