(KMOV) -- Police in Ferguson are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in an attempted robbery of a bank on Thursday.

Officers with the Ferguson Police Department responded to Fifth Third Bank located on the 10700 block of New Halls Ferry for an attempted bank robbery around 9:15 a.m.

According to authorities, the suspect entered the bank and handed an employee a demand note.  The suspect reportedly implied he possessed a weapon, but did not show one.

Authorities say the suspect fled the scene before receiving any money.

The suspect is described as a black male in his late 40s to early 50s, between 5’8” and 5’10” tall and weighing around 200 pounds with warts around his chin and mouth.  He was last seen wearing a dark knit cap, dark zip up jacket with a light-colored trim, blue jeans, and dark shoes.
