CAHOKIA, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- The Major Case Squad has obtained a warrant for the arrest of a "person of interest" in the shooting death of a man in Cahokia, Ill.
John L. Harris Jr., 24, aka "Moo-Cow," is wanted in connection to the shooting, according to authorities.
The St. Clair County State's Attorney issued a warrant on Harris for one-count of first degree murder, with bail set at $1 million.
Police confirmed they were searching for Harris on Sunday night, and warned that he is considered "armed and extremely dangerous."
Sanchez Garner, of Cahokia, was found shot and killed in the 100 block of Amelia at 7:35 p.m. Friday.
Residents told News 4 they saw a car speeding up along the roadway, then heard six gunshots. Garner reportedly tried to run for cover, but was struck by gunfire. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy was performed Saturday morning to determine the exact cause of death.
St. Clair County detectives and Illinois State Police are still investigating the shooting, along with the Major Case Squad of St. Louis.
