(KMOV.com) – Police are investigating to determine if a string of home break-ins in Glendale and surrounding communities are connected.

Police told News 4 thieves broke into two houses in the 400 block of Belvedere Lane May 15. According to police, both break-ins occurred right after the residents left the house.

“Both of the residents went to run errands around that when they returned and saw things were a little awry in their house they investigated and discovered their homes had been burglarized,” Said Captain Bob Catlett with Glendale police.

Authorities also said the thieves took whatever would fit in their pockets or what could be easily carried including cash, jewelry, and electronics.

“I’m shocked,” said Glendale resident Glenda Gordon. “We’ve been here 40 years and never had a break in on this block here.”

Authorities said similar thefts have taken place in Webster Groves and Rock Hill.
