(KMOV.com) – Police said they arrested a suspect after a standoff in south St. Louis Wednesday evening.
Detectives say they received a tip that the suspect was hiding in a home near the intersection of Nebraska and Utah. When the suspect saw police arriving, he barricaded himself inside and refused to come out. Police also equipped officers with high powered weapons and called in the mobile reserve.
"We had a burglary assault investigation so we were worried about a threat to others and the officers," said St. Louis Police Captain Mary Warnecke. "We took the precautions we needed to take and it ended well. The suspect is in custody and no one else is wanted at this time."
Police said the suspect surrendered without incident and was not armed. Officers also took other people inside the building into custody. The standoff lasted several hours.
The investigation is ongoing.
